Arandmi

When your Neighborhood doesn’t Show up

You heard about Arandmi from a friend, or found it after a bad week of network outages, and typed in the name of your street or estate, expecting to see what everyone else already knew.

Instead, nothing. No page, no stars, no reviews to nod along with.

Maybe it’s a smaller town outside the big cities. Maybe it’s a newer estate finished only in the last two years, the kind of place with fresh roads and a transformer nobody has rated yet.

Either way, it feels like your neighborhood doesn’t exist, at least not to anyone trying to check on power or internet before moving there.

Here’s the thing worth knowing before you close the tab. Arandmi currently covers dozens of neighborhoods across about eight Nigerian states, including states like Anambra, and new areas get added constantly, purely because someone rated them.

Your area isn’t missing because it’s been judged unworthy. Nobody has typed its name into the form yet, and that’s a gap you can close in a few minutes.

Option one: type it into the Rate My Area form, and it exists

Your area isn't on arandmi yet

The most direct fix is also the simplest. Head to the Rate My Area form (make sure to sign up if you haven’t) on the homepage and start with the State dropdown, then the LGA (Local Government Area) dropdown that appears once you pick a state, since that second list depends on the first choice.

After that comes the Area name field, and this is where it actually happens. If your neighborhood, estate, or small town hasn’t been written about yet, typing its name into that field is what puts it on Arandmi.

There’s no approval queue to wait on. The page gets created the moment you type a name that doesn’t already exist in the system.

From there, the form walks you through the same rating system used everywhere else on Arandmi.

You’ll give a 5-star rating for power (“How reliable is the light, day to day?”) and a separate 5-star rating for internet (“Does it hold up for calls, streaming and work?”).

You’ll name your main internet provider, pick an average hours-of-power-per-day range from a dropdown running from “Under 4 hours” to “18 to 24 hours,” and write a short review of up to 300 words, ideally with specifics like providers, hours, and what changed over the last year.

Add your name and email, check the consent box, and submit. For a slower walkthrough of each field, the full rating walkthrough covers it step by step.

Option two: flag it through the contact page instead

Maybe you’re not ready to write a full review yet, or you’d rather someone else in the area take the first swing at it. That’s fine. You can still get your neighborhood on Arandmi’s radar without rating it yourself.

Open the category dropdown on the message form and pick “Suggest an area or city we should cover,” sitting alongside options like reporting a review or asking a data question.

Name the area and send it. Arandmi says most messages get a reply within 24 hours, so it’s not going into a void. It’s a lighter touch than the full rating form, useful if you just want to reach out through the contact page and flag a spot worth adding.

Early signal is normal, not a problem

Once your area’s page exists, don’t expect a fully formed average on day one. Arandmi needs 25 or more reviews before it calls an area’s score “reliable.”

Until then, the page carries an “Early signal” tag showing how many of those 25 reviews are in, something like “Early signal, 2 of 25 reviews.”

That’s expected, not a flaw. Every area on the platform, including ones with hundreds of reviews now, started at zero, and the count climbs as more residents find the page and add their own experience.

If your street’s power situation shifts later, say a transformer goes in, or a provider improves, you’re not stuck with an old rating either.

Arandmi has a guide for when you’ve already rated an area that later changed, so the page keeps reflecting reality rather than a snapshot from last year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does typing my area into the form really create the page instantly, or does someone have to approve it first?

It’s instant, with no approval step and no waiting on anyone else.

You just fill out the Rate My Area form on the homepage, and if the area name you type doesn’t already exist in Arandmi’s system, submitting the form creates that area’s page right away, with your rating and review counted as its first entry.

What if I don’t want to submit a full review but still want my area added?

Use the Contact page instead. Choose “Suggest an area or city we should cover” from the category dropdown, name your neighborhood, and send it.

Arandmi replies to most messages within 24 hours, so someone will follow up on the suggestion.

Why does a brand-new area show “Early signal” instead of a real score?

Arandmi only calls an area’s average “reliable” once it has 25 or more reviews.

Below that, the page shows an “Early signal” tag with a count, like “2 of 25 reviews,” because a handful of ratings isn’t enough to represent an entire neighborhood accurately yet.
