Rumuokwurusi: Home to the Oil Mill Market
Rumuokwurusi sits in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, and serves as one of the busier transport and trading points in Port Harcourt’s northern reaches.
The market that gives the area its name recognition
The Oil Mill Market runs on a mid-week schedule and counts as one of the biggest markets in Port Harcourt. A fire tore through a large section of it in March 2023, destroying a significant number of shops, and traders have been rebuilding since.
Getting around
A flyover built by Julius Berger and commissioned in December 2022 connects Rumuokoro, Aba Road, Akpajo, and Rumuodara through this area, cutting out what used to be a routine bottleneck for anyone heading toward central Port Harcourt.
Neighboring areas
Rumuokwurusi links directly to Rumuokoro and Rumuodara through the flyover corridor, and from there out to Akpajo on the Eleme side of the metro area.
