The Government Reserved Area (GRA) is a district of Ikot Ekpene, in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, built up around the town’s government offices.
Where it sits
Ikot Ekpene sits on the A342 highway between Aba to the west and Uyo, the state capital, to the east, in Annang country, a town known nationwide as the Raffia City for its raffia-weaving and cane-furniture trade. Government and public offices
The Ikot Ekpene Local Government Secretariat and the High Court of Justice both sit within the GRA, the court having operated in Ikot Ekpene since Akwa Ibom’s judiciary was carved out of the old Cross River State in 1987, one of the state’s first seven judicial divisions.
Neighborhoods within the GRA
Library Avenue is the GRA’s best-known street, named for the Divisional Library still open there, and home to banks, pharmacies, and Southhills Hotels & Suites. The Plaza-centered business district borders the GRA directly, with Abak Road and Umuahia Road giving quick access to the rest of town.
